Make-Up Class Policy

Modified on Fri, 19 Dec at 11:40 AM

Purpose

This policy explains how make-up classes work and outlines the responsibilities of students and parents when a class is missed.

General Policy

We understand that students may occasionally miss a scheduled class due to illness, travel, school commitments, or family obligations. To support consistent training while maintaining fairness and operational clarity, the following make-up class guidelines apply.

Eligibility for Make-Up Classes

  • Students may make up a missed class by booking a make-up class either before or after a planned or unplanned absence.
  • Make-up classes are not automatic and must be actively requested or booked.

Tracking & Responsibility

  • We do not track the number of missed classes for individual students.
  • It is the responsibility of the student and/or parent to:
    • Monitor missed classes
    • Request or book make-up classes
    • Complete make-up classes within the allowed timeframe

Time Limits & Expiry

  • Missed classes do not carry forward indefinitely.
  • Any missed classes are lost and expire when the membership expires.

Ongoing Monthly Memberships

  • Students on an ongoing monthly membership must complete any make-up classes within the current billing cycle.
  • Missed classes do not roll over into future billing cycles.

Booking Make-Up Classes

The method for booking a make-up class depends on the type of membership.

Rostered Members

  • Members who are rostered into a fixed weekly schedule must text or email the help desk to request a make-up class booking.
  • Make-up class requests are subject to availability.
  • Requested make-up classes must be approved and added to the schedule by staff.

BBT Memberships & Class Passes

  • Members on a BBT membership or using a class pass may book make-up classes themselves using the student portal booking calendar.
  • Students must ensure the selected class is age- and rank-appropriate.
  • Space is subject to availability.

Important Notes

  • Make-up classes are intended to support consistent training, not to bank or accumulate classes.
  • Excessive absences may affect progress, readiness for rank advancement, and overall development, even if make-up classes are completed.
