Code of Conduct

Traditional Martial Arts begin and end with courtesy and respect.

Students of The Academy of Martial Arts…

  1. Behave as ladies and gentlemen at all times, inside and outside of the Dojo.
  2. Are polite and courteous to fellow students regardless of rank.
  3. Never criticize other Martial Arts or Martial Artists.
  4. Never incite violence or allow themselves to be provoked into violence.
  5. Share in the responsibility of keeping the Dojo safe and clean.
  6. Recognize that their training is a privilege, which is not to be taken for granted.
  7. Show pride in their appearance by keeping their uniforms clean and mended.
  8. Demonstrate respect for their parents, teachers and peers at all times.

Code of Training

Students of the Academy of martial Arts prescribe to the following rules:

  1. Be on time for class. If you arrive after the class has begun, kneel at the door and wait for permission to enter.  No student will be admitted into a class if they are more than five minutes late.
  2. Personal grooming and hygiene are essential for the safety of all students.
  3. Hair must not interfere with your training; it must be kept neat and tied back when in the Dojo.
  4. For your personal safety and the wellbeing of others, all jewellery is to be removed before class.
  5. Food, such as candy or gum, creates a serious choking hazard and is not permitted in class.
  6. Consumption of alcohol or drugs before class creates a serious risk for all students. This is unacceptable behaviour for any Karate-ka and will be dealt with harshly.
  7. All students will conduct themselves appropriately in the Dojo by refraining from: loud laughter, excessive talking, profanity, or rowdy behaviour.
  8. Under no circumstance will any Dojo member teach Martial Arts to a non-members, or show a fellow student new techniques without their Sensei’s permission.

At the discretion of the Sensei, any member of the Academy of Martial Arts may be temporarily or permanently suspended from the Dojo for failing to comply with any of the above listed rules.

The Dojo is a serious place of study.  If you are not here to train seriously, stay home.
