We offer many types of events at the dojo ranging from social/community events to guest instructed seminars to off site camps. Some of our memberships offer discounts on some of these events or include them outright so it is important to know how we clasify each type. In most cases it is easy to know which type of event you are viewing by looking at the calender it is in. Just like the calender you book into your classes with our events also have their own calenters.
Events (Calendar):
These are generaly social events for our members but can include events that are open to friends and family as well. If you see a Guest option at checkout you will be able to add siblings or other family to an event you are attending as well. These events may not neccesarily be karate thiemed and include things like BBQs, open house events, dojo picinics, Blaster Wars, or charity events that allow student and family to socialize and become a closer knit community. There are no education credits for social events.
Education Credits (Calendar) - Workshop / Seminars:
The Education Credits Calendar contains both workshops and seminars as it makes it easier for students to find education credits they have earned for belt exams. Please note for some of our memberships it states includes inhouse workshops. This means the workshop is on site and led by one of our instructors, not a guest instructor. 1 education credit is awarded for participation events in this calendar.
Workshops: up to 1.75 hrs in duration
Seminars: 2 to 3 hrs in duration
Camps (Calendar):
Camps are genaraly 3.5hrs or longer and may span multiple days. They can be in house or off site and may have more than one topic with multiple instructors including guest instructors. up to 2 education credits may be awarded for events in this calendar. It is important to read the description of the event and be sure to list them in your belt exam requirements so that Sensei knows where to look when verifying your requirements as they will not be listed in the Education Credits calendar.
